I read somewhere that you can usually see more when you first think about what you have seen and then look at the same thing for the second time.
I was travelling tonight on a train and I decided to check this out. So I picked a guy who was sitting two seats away and I was observing what he was wearing. To help focus, I observed in a logical order, from his feet to his forehead. I paid attentions to the details and was trying not to miss anything. I then wrote down what I saw. When I finished, I looked at the guy again and revised my list. I noticed that 1) I did not record all the details correctly and 2) there were some things I missed completely. Here is my report:
Time and location: 10th January 2011, Victoria train.
Subject: male, age 30.
Initial observation: Black, plain leather shoes, clean. Black socks. Dark blue jeans, clean, immaculate state. Black sport "North Face" jacket with no wrist belts. White shirt, but not very visible. Black leather bag with a piece of blue fabric sticking out. Black gloves with white lining. Black-green checked scarf. Black earphones with white circles painted on them. Straight haircut.
Revised observation: He did not wear jeans, this was in fact some other trousers fabric, looking a bit like jeans at the first sight. He had a big "Hyvent" label on the sleeve of his jacket. The gloves had a black lining. The scarf had a houndstooth pattern and the little circles on the earphones were silver, not white.
So it seams to work!
